Born in Manhattan and raised in Queens, Lois Barber is a graduate of NYU”s School of Film and Television. She was one of the two graduates from the film school to win The Founder’s Day Award for scholastic excellence.She has written for Forbes Newspapers in New Jersey and has been a regular contributing writer for The Waterbury Republican American Newspaper for the past fifteen years. She is presently writing both a gardening column and a cooking column for the Country Life section, which runs Lois Imbriano Barber’s Bioevery Thursday.Lois Barber runs the Connecticut Beautiful Baby Contest (formally the Newtown Beautiful Baby Contest). The contest is a photo fundraiser for young soldiers returning home with severe life-altering injuries. 100% of the money raised is donated to Homes for Our Troops, a national nonprofit that builds handicap houses at no cost to the soldier.Barber resides in Sandy Hook in a farmhouse built in the 1700’s and is happy to call Connecticut her home.
