Enjoy The Festival Of Lights With Fairfield County's Many Hanukkah Events

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Hanukkah falls early this year -- it begins at sunset, Sunday, Dec. 6 and lasts until Monday, Dec. 14.- and, as always, Fairfield County is ablaze with events. What follows is a sampling.

Fairfield: On Sunday, Dec. 6, downtown Fairfield will turn into a “Chanukah Village" starting at 1:30 p.m. with participating stores offering Chanukah-themed activities. The festivities will culminate with the annual Community Menorah Lighting at the Sherman Green. At 2:30 p.m. there will be a Chanukah Concert with Bobby Doowah at the Fairfield University Bookstore with a 3:45 story time. Information: 203-373-7551 or office@chabadff.com.

Easton: This is the 30th year that the menorah has been lit on Easton's Town Green. Join Thursday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. for the celebration. Information: (203) 268-0740, www.mishkanisrael.com/

Greenwich: Families with young children are invited to attend Temple Sholom's annual Shabbat celebration of Chanukah. services begin at 5:30 p.m Friday, Dec. 11 and are filled with ruach (spirit), singing and dancing. New Canaan: The public is invited to the New Canaan Menorah lighting Sunday, Dec. 6 on God’s Acre at 6 p.m. Clergy from Temple Shalom in Norwalk will lead prayers and songs. 

Norwalk: The Martini Loft plays host to a Young Jewish Professionals Chanukah Party from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Information: 97 Washington St, (203) 635-4118 or youngjewishp@gmail.com.

Monroe: A menorah lighting will be held Monday, Dec. 7 at 6 p.m on the Monroe Town Green. Information: (203) 268-0740, www.mishkanisrael.com/.

Stamford: Enjoy a family Chanukah party Wednesday, Dec. 9, starting at 6 p.m. at the Stamford JCC where you’ll light candles while enjoying crafts, music, and goodies galore. Information: 1035 Newfield Ave., (203) 322-7900. www.stamfordjcc.org/.

Trumbull: Join in the menorah lighting in front of Trumbull Town Hall on Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. Information: (203) 268-0740, www.mishkanisrael.com/.

Wilton: Hanukkah songs and stories are part of the events for youngsters and their caregivers Friday, Dec. 11 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wilton Library. This event is for newborns to age five. Information: 137 Old Ridgefield Rd., (203) 762-3950. www.wiltonlibrary.org/.
