BROOKFIELD, Conn. — The Brookfield Museum & Historical Society hosted its annual Strawberry Festival on Sunday afternoon in conjunction with the town's annual Memorial Day Parade.

The parade ended near the museum, which then served up strawberry shortcake and soft drinks, with proceeds slated for future programs run by the society.

Billy Michael's Jazz for Juniors band provided entertainment, and there was also a vintage car show. The Brookfield War Memorial exhibit was also set up at to honor the 44 Brookfield residents who gave their lives while in the military.

"We've run this event for 30-plus years," festival Chairman Don Winkly told Daily Voice. "We have jazz music, antique cars, and the museum is open with the display of 44 veterans.

"People come back year after year, so I think it's a success," he added. "It's a community gathering opportunity — and people love the strawberry shortcake."
