BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- As part of the planned streetscape improvements to the Four Corners area of Brookfield, city officials will pay Eversource $196,000 to find out how much it would cost to move utility lines underground, according to NewsTimes.

Although relocating the lines was not part of the original plan, First Selectman Steve Dunn told NewsTimes that doing so would increase property values and add to the design that includes sidewalks, new parking spaces, street lighting and other improvements, said NewsTimes.

The payment, which is a nonrefundable deposit, will be credited to the full project cost if the city decides to move forward with burying the lines, added NewsTimes.
