Officials have received reports from residents of a large number of calls where the called ID says it is coming from the "Town of Brookfield." Upon seeing that the residents will pick up the phone, but the caller is actually a firm trying to sell credit cards. Officials are advising residents to be careful and aware about any calls they receive.
The matter is not one that Town Hall has direct control over, but officials encourage residents to take care of their personal information and use resources like the FCC's information on caller ID "spoofing," as well as guides to stop unwanted calls or getting on the National Do Not Call Registry.
