BROOKFIELD, Conn. – Elizabeth Kerekes, a former Brookfield school finance department employee accused of stealing more than $30,000 from the Brookfield School District, applied for accelerated rehabilitation in court Monday, reports Newstimes .com.

The probation program would allow Kerekes, 41, to plead not guilty to first-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit first-degree larceny charges, but she could be placed on up to two years of probation, according to the report.

A school audit looking into Kerekes and her former boss, Art Colley, found questionable spending of about $124,000, including payments to Colley’s personal credit card bill, Colley’s daughter’s landlord and orthodontia work for Kerekes, according to the report.
