KENT, Conn. — Kent Falls State Park was closed for a few hours Sunday after a "suspicious device" was found at the popular state park, state police said.

State troopers from Troop L in Litchfield and the Connecticut State Police bomb squad assisted the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection with the issue, NBC Connecticut said.

But the "suspicious device" turned out to be a camping grill with wires that are used to ignite it, NBC Connecticut.

"From a bit of a distance, the grill looked like it could be some type of Improvised Explosive Device," DEEP said in a statement.

The park was closed from about 10 a.m. Sunday until about 12:45 p.m., when it reopened on a busy, sunny Sunday afternoon.
