Funeral Set For Ex-Stamford HS Football Player Killed Under I-95 Overpass

A funeral has been scheduled for the 18-year-old former high school football standout who was gunned down on Thursday, May 31 by an unknown person under the I-95 overpass.

Antonio Shai Robinson was born on Sept. 4, 1999, in Stamford, to Antonio A. Robinson and Ulonda Michelle Warren, Robinson was was just weeks away from graduating from Stamford Academy. 

His family has said he was killed while walking to an area basketball court to play a game with a friend. Robinson was a free safety for the Stamford High School Knights for several years ending in 2017, and a co-captain for the team.

His murder was the first in the city in 18 months.

He is survived by his mother; Ulonda Michelle Warren, his father; Antonio A. Robinson, three sisters; Latavia Warren, Shaniya Moore and I'yahnie Robinson, two brothers; Andre Moore and A. Shaci Robinson, two aunts; Mamie Warren and Charlene Robinson, paternal grandmother; Patricia Robinson, paternal great-grandmother; Ethel Booker, his godmother; Tracey Webster and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, followed by a service of celebration at 12:30 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 29 Grove St., Stamford, with Elder Lillie Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery.
