He is formerly of Stormville. Born June 29, 1946, in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Theodore and Marie Cruz.
He served in the U.S. Army, and received the Army Commendation Medal for the time he spent in Vietnam. He was a Quality Control Manager for the Maxwell House division of Kraft Foods in Tarrytown, where he worked for 43 years until his retirement in 2008. He was a former member of the Hopewell Reformed Church. He was a certified Coffee Grader for the NYBOT.
He is survived by his wife Bonnie; children, Caroline Cruz of Manchester, Mass., and Christian Cruz of Scotch Plains, N.J.; his granddaughters, Felicity and Aiyla Cruz; his brother, Gary Cruz of Toms River, N.J.; several nieces, nephews, and two great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Goldstein.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home followed by military honors.
