BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- People who live near the Brookfield Golf Course were surprised to spot a black bear in their neighborhood in Brookfield on Tuesday night, police said.
The sightings were reported in the area of Powder Horn Hill Road, Willow Run Road, and Sunset Hill Road — a residential area just east of Route 7 in the southern part of town, police said.
The Brookfield Police Department is taking the opportunity remind residents that black bears live in the area, and that it is not uncommon to see one. In fact, in the past 12 months, a total of 35 black bear sightings have been reported in Brookfield.
Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police asks to those who see a black bear to follow this link to report the sighting.
