With the generous assistance of the Brookfield Animal Hospital, officers determined that the dog had a microchip to identify it. After a quick scan, he was reunited with his family, police said.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind pet owners to protect your four-legged family members by getting them microchips at your regular veterinarian," the department said. "Also please license your dogs annually to assist us in reuniting lost dogs with their families in a timely fashion."
