BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Brookfield police officers routinely serve the whole community, but every now and then they make a special effort to help those who need it most.
On Thursday, Oct. 6, officers will be serving tables and collecting donations during the "Tip a Cop for Special Olympics" fundraiser.
The event is set to benefit Special Olympics Connecticut, a year-round program providing sports, training and athletic competition for those with special needs. All money collected will be used to support athletes from the local community, according to the police department.
The event is scheduled from 5-10 p.m. at the 189 Sports Cafe, 189 Federal Road, Brookfield. Learn more about the restaurant on Facebook .
