Just before 4 p.m., Danbury Fire units were dispatched to the reported fire.

Engine 23, led by Lt. Doug Zaniewski, arrived on the scene and reported a smoke condition. After a quick survey of the scene, a small fire was located that was confined to the kitchen, the Facebook post said.

Shift commander Deputy Fire Chief Bernie Meehan arrived and took command.

One uninjured occupant was led away from the house by firefighters, and checked out by City of Danbury EMS.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the crew of Engine 23, while other crews assisted with ventilation of the smoke from the home.

The Danbury Fire Marshals Office was on scene and investigating the cause of the fire.
