State Police responded to a report of an accident at 3:51 a.m. Tuesday on Route 7 south between Exits 11 and 12, near I-84.

Latrowski, who was driving a 2015 BMW X5 owned by a New York man, was driving in the left lane when he lost control of the car for an unknown reason, said a statement from State Trooper Kelly Grant .

The car went off the right side of the road, hit a tree, rolled over and hit another tree before coming to a stop, Grant said.

Troopers found the heavily damaged BMW in a grassy area on the right side of the highway, she said.

Latrowski, who was found entrapped in the driver's seat of the car, was declared dead at the scene by Brookfield Volunteer Ambulance paramedics, Grant said. He was the only occupant in the car.

Route 7 southbound was closed for the State Police investigation, but all lanes have since reopened.

According to the News-Times, Latrowski was on his way home to Long Island to vote in the presidential election after tutoring a family friend in Goshen.

He graduated from Dartmouth College last year with a degree in history and had attended the Professional Performing Arts High School in New York City, the News-Times said. His uncle told the News-Times that Latrowski was a talented musician.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Alexander Milne at Troop A in Southbury at 203-267-2200.
