BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- While most people in Brookfield probably spent the Fourth of July enjoying fireworks, the members of the Brookfield Fire Department spent it dealing with working fires.

The firefighters had a very busy Independence Day, with several incidents throughout the day that included a brush fire on Dingle Brook Road, two emergencies on Candlewood Lake, and a fire on Stony Brook Road.
