The fight started around 11 p.m. Sunday at the Discovery Cafe on Stillwater Avenue when the woman's boyfriend threw a beer bottle at her because he thought she was sitting too close to another man, said Sgt. Kenneth Jarrett.

The bottle missed, but it served to make Yoseina Rodriguez-Fernandez, 38, mad enough to pick up her own beer bottle and send it sailing his way, Jarrett said.

That bottle narrowly missed the boyfriend, but it did hit the bar counter beside him and sent shards flying, cutting his arm, police said.

Rodriguez-Fernandez was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The boyfriend declined medical attention.
