Jachin Brown, 27, who was arrested Nov. 15 after shooting an off-duty officer during a violent armed robbery in Bridgeport, now faces multiple charges in Stratford, according to Stratford Police Sgt. Jamie Rivera.

The Stratford arrest warrant will charge Brown with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, first-degree threatening, criminal possession of a pistol, criminal possession of ammunition and carrying a pistol without a permit, Rivera said.

The armed robbery and shooting occurred in BAR at 2399 Main St., near I-95 and the train station in Stratford Center, shortly before 7 p.m. Nov. 14, police said.

Brown entered the bar, approached the bartender and demanded money, police said. The bartender handed over cash and then Brown shot him once in the abdomen, police said.

He fled on foot, and police shut down the area that night as they searched unsuccessfully for the suspect, police said.

The armed robbery remains under investigation, Rivera said.

Brown was arrested the next day, Nov. 15, after exchanging gunfire with an off-duty Bridgeport police officer outside EbLens in Bridgeport after a violent robbery there, police said.

The off-duty officer, working at a nearby construction job after a water main break, saw a masked man, now identified as Brown, leaving EbLens at Pequonnock and Chestnut streets. The officer followed Brown, and Brown fired a gun at the officer, police said. The officer shot back, but no one was hit, police said.

Two employees were inside EbLens at the time of the robbery. Police said Brown grabbed one of the women and dragged her by the hair, all while holding her at gunpoint and demanding money. He made off with $1,900 in cash, which police recovered.

Officers also recovered the firearm used to shoot at the officer, the mask worn during the robbery, and the shell casing from Brown's gun, police said.

Brown has been held in state custody since his Bridgeport arrest. In that incident, he was charged with two count of attempt to commit murder, two counts of second-degree threatening, second-degree breach of peace, first-degree robbery, reckless endangerment, carrying a dangerous weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, illegal discharge of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit and criminal possession of a firearm/ammunition.

Brown was held on $1.25 million bond on the Bridgeport charges and is due back in court on Nov. 28.

A GoFundMe has been started to help Regi Woodard, the bartender who was shot at BAR. He has undergone multiple surgeries at Bridgeport Hospital.
