NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — New Fairfield voters approved the town’s combined budget of $52.4 million on Saturday, with very low turnout, according to the News-Times.

The results, according to the town Facebook page, are:

  • Town budget: Passed 774 to 302
  • School budget: Passed 744 to 332
  • Total number of votes cast: 1,078

The $41.5 million school budget for the next fiscal year is about $134,000 more than this year, according to the News-Times.

The $10.9 million town budget is about $376,000 higher than this year, according to the News-Times, with much of the increase due to the cost of resident state troopers.

Property taxes will rise about 0.53 percent due to the budget increases, the story said.
