SHERMAN, Conn. --A hearing for the public originally planned for Thursday to discuss the budget proposal has been rescheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mallory Town Hall, reported WLAD-AM.
The proposal is $14.5 million, representing an increase by 0.86 percent above the present year, and a flat tax rate over this year, said WLAD-AM.
On the Board of Education side, the budget is around $9.4 million, an increase of almost 9 percent, said the report.
A 2 percent increase in salary is in the $5.14 million budget, WLAD-AM reported.
Sherman will also hold a town meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mallory Town Hall to authorize two expenditures requested by the Parks and Recreation Commission. The first authorizes up to $10,000 for the purchase of beach sand, ball field clay, playground mulch and stone dust for track. The second authorizes up to $18,5000 for the purchase of a Toro Infield Pro 3040 for the maintenance of the town beach and ball fields.
