Check The Score: High School Football Quarterfinals Kick Off In Connecticut

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The 2017 statewide football championships are underway, with a number of Fairfield County high schools taking part in quarterfinal games on Tuesday night.

Here are the scores from local games, as reported by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. 

CLASS LL 

Top-ranked Greenwich beat No. 8 Fairfield Prep, 27-6, at home. Greenwich will next play at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3 against No. 4 South Windsor. 

In another game, No. 3 Darien easily topped No. 6 East Hartford, 30-10. This was a return to wining form for Darien, which was upset on Thanksgiving by rival New Canaan.

In the semifinal game at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3, Darien will play at home against West Haven. West Haven beat No. 2-ranked Shelton, 46-7, on Tuesday night in another quarterfinal game. 

The final game is set for Dec. 9. 

CLASS L 

No. 3 New Canaan kept its momentum going from Thanksgiving, when it upset Darien. On Tuesday evening, they beat top-ranked Middletown, 24-9. 

In another quarter final game, Masuk High of Monroe beat Fitch, 43-7. 

The semifinal game between Masuk and New Canaan will be played at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Masuk.  

The final game is set for Dec. 9. 

CLASS M

Sixth-seeded Joel Barlow upset third-seeded Sheehan of Wallingford, 47-34. 

Barlow will next play the team from Sports & Medical Sciences Academy/University Science & Engineering/Classical Magnet at home at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 3. 

CLASS S 

No. 4-ranked Bullard-Havens Tech from Bridgeport lost to No. 5 Stafford/Somers/East Windsor, 20-12.
