Route 7 will closed Friday, Oct. 13, at 8 p.m. until Monday, Oct. 16,, at 6 a.m., according to the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

This is the sixth and final weekend road closure for the ongoing bridge construction activities.

This means that thousands of cars and trucks will be detoured off Route 7 and through Ridgefield this weekend.

For traffic heading north on Route 7, the detour will send traffic onto Route 102 into town. And for traffic heading south, the detour is at Route 35. Ridgefield police will be on hand at the detour locations.

The small bridge carries Route 7 over the Norwalk River in Branchville, just north of Route 102 near the Little Pub and the train station.

The contract for the bridge work was awarded to New England Infrastructure Inc. for $3,489,712 on March 3, 2016. All the work is scheduled to be completed by Tuesday, Oct. 17.
