FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The National Weather Service was warning Friday afternoon of a strong thunderstorm heading for northern Fairfield County.
At 5:05 p.m. Friday, the storm was over Lake Carmel over the state border in New York.
It was estimated to hit New Fairfield and Brookfield at about 5:30 p.m. Friday, the weather service said.
Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, the weather service said, and it may cause localized flooding and small hail.
Do not drive your car through flooded roadways.
