FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County could see some isolated showers and thunderstorms Friday afternoon, ahead of what is expected to be a mostly calm weekend.

A cold front will move through the region this afternoon and evening, bringing the showers and storms, according to the National Weather Service. Otherwise, the skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 73. Wind gusts could get as high as 26 mph. Dry conditions are expected to return this evening, with partly cloudy skies predicted tonight and a low around 48.

High pressure will bring another seasonably warm day on Saturday, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 72. Dry and tranquil conditions will continue into Saturday night, which is expected to be mostly clear with a low around 51.

Increasing clouds are expected on Sunday, with a chance of rain and also possible thunderstorms after 3 p.m. The high will be near 69, and the chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Rain is likely on Sunday night, which will see a low of 59. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent, with new precipitation amounts between a quarter and half-inch possible.

Rain is likely to continue on Monday, when the high will be near 68. The chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
