BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Brookfield police are warning of a telephone scam targeting those inclined to support local law enforcement.
According to the police department, several Brookfield residents have recently been called by someone seeking donations. The caller has claimed to be affiliated with the Brookfield Police Department.
"(Brookfield police) will never make phone calls asking for money in any way," the department said in a statement.
Anyone who receives a telephone call from someone claiming to be affiliated with the police department is urged to verify the account by calling Brookfield's non-emergency telephone number at 203-775-2575.
