Brookfield Woman Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver

BROOKFIELD, Conn. — A Brookfield woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver while she was walking on Sandy Lane near Homestead Lane on Monday evening, police said.

The accident happened at 6:10 p.m. Monday, Brookfield police said. The unknown vehicle struck the woman and left the scene without stopping, police said.

Brookfield police are asking for the public's help in finding the vehicle. It likely sustained damage to the center and/or left side of the front fender, hood, and windshield, police said.

The vehicle left the scene of the crash at a high rate of speed, traveling east on Sandy Lane to Old Gray's Bridge Road, police said. 

Anyone who was in that area, either driving or on foot, who may have seen the fleeing vehicle is asked to call Detective Sgt. Michael O'Brien at the Brookfield Police Department at 203-740-4121.

Sandy Lane was closed until about 10 p.m. for the investigation of the fatal crash, Brookfield police said. 

Police did not release the name of the victim, but said she is an adult woman who lives in Brookfield. 

The accident happened near Sandy Lane Village, a condominium complex in the area behind Bob's Discount Furniture off Federal Road.
