BROOKFIELD, Conn. — About three hours after a Brookfield bank was hit by a robber on Friday, police released a photo of the suspect in a baseball hat.
The Newtown Savings Bank branch office at 99 Federal Road was robbed at 8:55 a.m. Friday, Brookfield police said. The location is in a busy retail area near an exit ramp off Route 7, near the Danbury border.
The lone suspect was described as a 5-foot-10 black male with a medium build. He was wearing a dark baseball cap with a distinctive white stripe, a gray-hooded sweatshirt, black pants and military-style work boots.
As the bank was opening, he presented a note to a teller demanding money but did not display a weapon, police said.
The suspect exited the bank and turned right on foot, police said.
A New Haven Police Department K-9 tracked the suspect toward the nearby Grays Bridge Road, where the track was lost, police said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Detective Sgt. Michael O'Brien at 203-775-2575.
