The budget proposal include $17.3 million for town operations, $40.38 million for school operations, $1.3 million for capital projects and $4.4 million for debt service. The total budget represents a 3.63 percent increase over the 2015-16 budget.
If approved, the mill rate would increase from 25.7 for the current year to 26.4, an increase of 2.72 percent.
Voters will be asked to choose separately to endorse the town and school budgets. The ballot will also include the question "Shall the Town of Brookfield authorize its bonds or notes and temporary notes of the Town in an amount not to exceed $1,905,000 to finance the 2016 Remedial Bond Project?"
