NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — New Fairfield voters sent their incumbent state legislators back to Hartford in Tuesday's election.
In New Fairfield's only State Senate seat (District 24), Republican incumbent Michael McLachlan defeated Democratic challenger Kenneth Gucker.
"We need your help all year round," McLachlan said in a victory speech Tuesday night at the Amerigo Vespucci Lodge in Danbury. "It's not just election season that we need help.
"Republican activists need to write letters to the editor. Our opponents on the other side do that on a regular basis. Voice your opinion on something and stay in touch," he said.
In State House District 108, Republican incumbent Richard A. Smith was re-elected after running unopposed.
In State House District 138, Republican Michael S. Ferguson defeated Democrat Jeff Tomchik to win the seat formerly held by Janice Giegler.
For Registrar of Voters, Democrat Elaine A. Jordano and Republican Donna Freeborn were both re-elected.
