BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The new Brookfield Police Chief James Purcell put on a Dr. Seuss hat Thursday to read to kids at the Brookfield Library.

It was National Reading Across America Day and Purcell, First Selectman Steven Dunn and others read aloud to kids to motivate them to keep at it.
