'Questionable' Item Prompts Shelter-In-Place For Morris County High School, Police Say
Questions loom after police say a "questionable item" prompted a high school in Morris County to shelter in place for more than 20 minutes on Tuesday, May 14. The administration at Whippany Park High School told Hanover Township Police Department School Resource Officer that a questionable item that may pose a security risk was reported on school grounds, Hanover Township Police said. A 34-year-old tenant died of suicide in his East Rutherford apartment before dawn Wednesday, police reported. Officers who responded to the 3:16 a.m. May 15 call were directed to the second floor of the Mozart Street home, Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said. They found the victim dead of a gunshot wound to the head on the kitchen floor, the captain said. He was pronounced at the scene. Construction Worker Killed In Trench Accident ID'd As Former Rutgers Wrestler, 29
The construction worker killed in a Kenilworth trench accident earlier this month has been identified as a 29-year-old former Rutgers University athlete. Corey Greg Stasenko, of Cranford, was killed on Monday, May 6, during a project on Monroe Street, Daily Voice has learned. ICE agents placed a detainer on an Ecuadorian national living in Hackensack who local authorities said felt up a youngster during a sleepover at a family member’s home. Diego G. Buri-Mora, 35, was seized on Tuesday, May 14 by Hackensack police, who notified members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit. Civilians teamed up with police to rescue a teenage girl who was struck and pinned beneath a vehicle Tuesday in North Bergen's Racetrack neighborhood, witnesses said. The victim, believed to be 15, was struck near a bus stop at the corner of Palisade Plaza and Woodcliff Avenue outside James J. Braddock Park shortly before 4:30 p.m. May 14, they said.
